Alleged M4 MacBook Pro Unboxing Video Reveals Four Exciting Upgrades

    Alleged M4 MacBook

An unverified unboxing video of the upcoming 14-inch MacBook Pro featuring the M4 chip has surfaced, showcasing potential enhancements.

An alleged unboxing video featuring an unannounced 14-inch MacBook Pro equipped with the M4 chip has been uploaded to YouTube by the Russian channel Wylsacom. This video was subsequently shared on the social media platform X by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

    What the Unboxing Video Reveals

It’s possible that this MacBook Pro box is the same one seen in photos shared by leaker ShrimpApplePro in late September, who claimed that the unit was being sold in a private Facebook group at that time.

While we cannot confirm the authenticity of this leak, the box hints at four potential upgrades for what appears to be the base model 14-inch MacBook Pro:

    1. 25% Faster M4 Chip: The box indicates that this 14-inch MacBook Pro features an M4 chip with a 10-core CPU, while the current model is equipped with an M3 chip with an 8-core CPU. An alleged Geekbench 6 benchmark result shared by the YouTube channel suggests that the M4 chip will deliver performance improvements of up to 25% compared to the M3 chip. Apple introduced the M4 chip in the iPad Pro back in May, confirming its 10-core CPU and enhanced performance.
    2. 16GB of RAM: Rumors have circulated that 16GB of RAM could become the minimum standard for all future Macs. The alleged packaging suggests that the next 14-inch MacBook Pro may start with 16GB of RAM, unless it is a built-to-order configuration available on Apple’s online store.
    3. Three Thunderbolt 4 Ports: The box indicates that the base 14-inch MacBook Pro will feature three Thunderbolt 4 ports, an upgrade from the two Thunderbolt 3 ports found on the current model.
    4. New Space Black Color Option: The packaging suggests that Space Black may become an available color for the base 14-inch MacBook Pro, a color currently exclusive to models configured with the M3 Pro or M3 Max chip.

Mark Gurman reported today that he expects Apple to unveil the first Macs featuring the M4 chips in late October, with some models set to be released on Friday, November 1.
